About Gwen

Have you ever thought how great it would be for someone to look at your life and career and help you blend them more effectively? Someone who has trained to do that sort of thing? Someone who will encourage you, help you capitalize on your strengths, make your life easier?

Welcome! My name is Gwen Jewett and I would love to help you stop saying "I wish" and and start saying "I am!" There are any number of good reasons you're not where you want to be right now, and there are a whole lot of easy, doable ways to make it better.

To be honest, I am not a big believer that everyone has one passion that they need to find in order to be happy. I do believe that everyone can find fulfillment in different ways at different times in their lives. I chose to leave a career as Executive Director of a large national healthcare association after 14 years because I had accomplished everything there that I wanted to and because even though I loved the job, endless travel and weekends spent in windowless meeting rooms eventually got to me. I was single and beginning to feel like my life was not my own.  So I left to pursue creating a business that would work for me on my own terms. I tried a couple of different, unrelated things and the key for me was that I didn’t allow the fear that I was “ruining my career” to interfere with moving forward with my plans. If you're ready to try something new, I would like to help you make strategic plans so that you can move ahead with clarity and confidence!

As a life and career coach I found a good fit and have enjoyed it ever since. And best of all, I now only pack my suitcase for fun trips that I want to take! Oh, and by the way, I found a wonderful mate, got married and now have a beautiful daughter! (Who says it can't happen after 40!) This is why I believe life has a way of always working out if you take care of yourself in the process, have faith and use your head.

Different things will fit you at different stages of your life. To move into the next exciting stage of your life you may have to stretch yourself in new ways. Take some risks you haven’t taken before. Even Tiger Woods had to first pick up a golf club to discover he liked the game and had the talent. Here is how I want to help you make the leap successfully:

  • First, we will look at what has and hasn’t worked for you so far.
  • We will look very closely at what it is specifically that you want to improve in your life; is it the work, time, environment, financial reward, people, place, schedule, what?
  • We will see what beliefs have held you back and learn to reframe them, freeing you to think ahead and really see the possibilities, removing that cloud of doubt.
  • The nuts and bolts. Through the process of Exploration, Experimentation, Engagement and Emergence or the Four E’s (see detail on the About You page), we will get into identifying what it is that you want to do next and then designing the plan to get you on your way.

What I want most for each client is for you to replace frustration with excitement and forward movement!

I work with you to identify where to best refocus your energy. We will "plug the leaks" where your energy is being drained and look for better ways to replenish it.  When your energy is being channeled in the right ways, you will find it easier to meet the challenges in your life. These “leaks” may be seemingly small, but when fixed, can pay off in big ways!

Some things I have helped clients do:

  • Craft your vision of the components of your ideal life and career, so that you can realistically begin pursuing it.

  • Prepare for a new career by making your resume more powerful, rehearsing for interviews, and planning search strategies.

  • Reduce the overwhelm of phasing out of a home-based business by devising daily task lists that are manageable and forward-moving.

  • Create support at home by enlisting family involvement in very specific ways.

  • Redesign your environment to support you. This includes both physical space (does your environment inspire or distract you?) and the community, i.e., who you spend time with, how that time is spent.

  • Comply with required corporate red tape by helping to rewrite job descriptions, personal objectives, and goals. (The neat thing about this is that while completing such seemingly drudge tasks, it can provide great tools to use in your own career evaluation process.)

  • Develop stronger personal boundaries, standards and values which enable clients to start seeing what it is you really want instead of constantly comparing and measuring yourself against others.

I would love to work with you to meet the challenges you are facing and help make it easier and frankly, more fun! I want you to come out at the end of the process with a smile on your face and a thumbs-up! Please contact me now to schedule your complimentary consultation!
